Grand Theft Auto 4
Magazine review 2008

1) Euphoria engine was first used in Indiana Jones (2006).
2) First released game with Euphoria engine - while it is common for current video games to use limp "ragdolls" for animations generated on the fly, Euphoria employs a more complex method to animate the entirety of physically bound objects within the game environment. Instead of using predefined animations, the characters' actions and reactions are synthesized in real-time; they are different every time, even when replaying the same scene.

3) Grand Theft Auto IV broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history at the time, earning US $310 million in its first day and US $500 million in its first week. (Until GTA 5 release).
4) While free roaming the game world, players may engage in context-specific activities such as bowling or darts. Other available activities include a vigilante minigame, and in-game television programming. Niko has a smartphone for contacting friends and starting activities, Niko can use Internet cafes located around the city.
5) Nico might understand Jacob - while he's own english not soo good.
6) Rockstar's marketing has come in many forms, including television ads, internet video, viral marketing, and a redesigned web site. There was even a mural of a prostitute named Lola painted on the side of a building in SoHo, New York. (she's can be found in docs) (see picture below).

7) Incidentally, when the first trailer was released the initial developers server overload due to the heavy traffic, its also credited for causing the first instances of Rickroll, where a 4chan user linked to the music video for Rick Astley's song Never Gonna Give You Up claiming it was a mirror of the trailer on YouTube.
8) The Euphoria engine also enables NPCs to react in a realistic way to the player's actions. In one preview, a player knocked an NPC out of a window and the character grabbed onto a ledge to stop himself from falling
9) Took over 1000 people and more than three and a half years to complete, with a total cost estimated at approximately $100 million, making it, at the time, the most expensive video game ever developed, smashing the previous record of $
67 million set by another open world game Shenmue (1999) (Until GTA 5 release).
10) Sound of machine guns was changed in Windows to less annoing.
11) A variety of real celebrities provide voices for the radio DJs in the game, including fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, musicians Iggy Pop, Ricky Gervais. Saturday Night Live actors Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis appear on the liberal and conservative radio talk shows respectively, with Fred Armisen playing several guests on Lazlow's "Integrity 2.0" and some street people (burger vendor etc.)
12) Andrew Reiner of Game Informer wrote that the game "completely changes the landscape of gaming".
13) Grand Theft Auto IV was banned in Thailand.
14) Australian version was censored. There are no blood pools created after the player kills a person, whether they are a pedestrian or enemy; and bloody tire tracks cannot be created when the player drives their car through a blood pool. When having sex with hookers, the car can only be seen bouncing from the rear view and players cannot choose between a blow job, hand job, and regular intercourse; and the sex animations are not present. Also, the camera is locked to a rear view and it cannot be rotated.Light blood patches representing bruises and bullet wounds on the body are non-existent.
15) Florida lawyer Jack Thompson, who had previously campaigned against other games from Rockstar, filed a document with a federal court in Florida on 18 September 2007, claiming that the assassination target of a mission in Grand Theft Auto IV is a lawyer character based upon himself. When the player enters his office and brandishes a weapon, the lawyer yells "Guns don't kill people, video games do!", a phrase often attributed to Thompson.Thompson threatened that he will "take necessary and proper means to stop release of the game" if the similarities were not removed. The similarities were not removed, and Thompson did not follow through.
16) Brucie - one of the game's "mission-giving" characters, can be seen working out during one of the cut scenes; it is easy to notice tattoos of Chinese characters covering his body. On his chest is the chinese character , which means "I"; on the back are the
chinese  characters  mean"transsexual"! Consider Brucie's constant bragging of his own masculinity and heterosexuality...
17) One area of the game features a wall of graffiti which has the words 'Claude', 'Carl' and the phrase 'Remember Tommy' written on it. These are references to the protagonists of past GTA games.
Official art from past GTA games is interlaced into some of the random graffiti found throughout the city. Notably 8 ball and El Burro from
Grand Theft Auto 3.
18) If you gain access to Playboy X's mansion the clothes of GTA III protagonist Claude become available for Niko to wear.
19) If you visit the miniature golf course it is possible to find the following land marks from past GTA games used on the course: The Ocean View Hotel from GTA: Vice City, the giant chicken from
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the farm windmill from San Andreas' countryside, the Watts Towers recreations from Los Santos and the lighthouse from the old Liberty City, as seen in GTA III and GTA: Liberty City Stories. It is interesting to note that the models and textures are ripped directly from the original games.
20) Display the statistics screen-  one of the Addiction Levels is "Beats a Meat Injection", which is a quote from the cult  movie Trainspotting.
21) The "Assassin's Greed" achievement for completing all nine assassin missions is a reference to the game
Assassin's Creed.
22) The character Niko Bellic is based on Vladimir Mashkov's character from Behind Enemy Lines (2001). Mashkov was offered the role (voice), but turned it down because he didn't take it seriously at the time, as he explains in the russsian talk-show interview Познер: Vladimir Mashkov (2010).

23) Information on the protagonists of the following three Grand Theft Auto games can be found in the LCPD online database: Johnny Klebitz, of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned (2009); Huang Lee, of the Nintendo DS game Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (2009); and Luis Fernando Lopez, of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (2009). Both Klebitz and Lopez make cameo appearances in Grand Theft Auto IV
24) The first of the series to feature sexual acts actually being performed by a prostitute on the protagonist. Other Grand Theft Auto games featured the player and the prostitute sitting in the front seats, motionless, as the player's vehicle rocked to and fro.
25) A teaser site for WKTT, one of the in-game radio stations, invited people to call a telephone number to talk about how they felt about the state of America in the style of a talk radio phone-in. The best rants were included in the final version of the game.
26) Pogo the Space Monkey Arcade game from GTA SA in bars was deleted in final game.
